Current Position: Senior PEO District Manager with a Human Resources Company
Story Last Updated: November 2017 Current Position Updated: August 2020
I transferred to Gwynedd Mercy University originally as an Education major but soon realized I didn’t want to teach anymore. So, I went over to the business department and got all of their flyers to learn more. That’s when I realized I wanted to study marketing.
I knew that I wanted to do an internship in my fall semester of my senior year. I found out about Source One, which is a consulting firm located in Willow Grove. I was very interested in this company, so I decided to apply. I received a call from their communications lead offering me an interview and I immediately accepted. I felt prepared to go into my interview at Source One. In the interview, they asked me questions and I was able to answer them based on my time here at Gwynedd Mercy University.
I took a marketing research class with Dr. Hoffman and became certified in Google Analytics I. The company was so impressed with my certification that they wanted to use it with their company and they ended up hiring me. I accepted the offer and have been with the company for a few months now and have already learned so much.
As the marketing communications intern, I do all of our blog posts, weekly updates, update our company websites with new information every week, and create infographics for our social media markets. We’re opening up a social media website that I’m also helping with. It’s demanding, but I’m learning a lot.
If you’re interested in studying Business, I would recommend coming to GMercyU because of the professors. I don’t know how to put it into words how helpful they are.
The professors use your background and personal situation and incorporate it into class. They know I work in a restaurant, so they use that experience in the lessons and give real-life examples geared towards my interests.
After graduation, I hope to find a job in the career path that I am looking for. I have big dreams and want to pursue them. I want to move out of Pennsylvania to explore the world. I want to be able to travel with my job that I hope to attain. I will be applying to big companies outside of Pennsylvania, preferably in the south.
