Dr. Courtney Loveless is an Assistant Professor in Counseling. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Memphis and her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Freed-Hardeman University. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Loveless is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Mental Health Service Provider and a Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor. She specializes in trauma-focused care, animal-assisted therapy, and burnout prevention among mental health professionals.
Dr. Loveless has worked extensively as a mental health therapist, serving children, adolescents, and families with histories of trauma. She has also held leadership roles in clinical admissions, addiction programming and business development. Her passion for counselor education has led her to teach and develop courses across master’s and doctoral levels, including foundations of counseling, group counseling, and animal-assisted therapy.
An active researcher, Dr. Loveless has presented nationally on topics like burnout, trauma care, and animal-assisted therapy. She is dedicated to advancing counselor education, fostering student success, and contributing to the counseling profession through teaching, research, and service.
