Jennifer McIlvaine, PhD, CCC-SLP, ATP is an Assistant Professor in the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program at Gwynedd Mercy University. She brings a rich and diverse background to her role, having spent over seven years as a speech-language pathologist specializing in assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) in a private practice setting.
Dr. McIlvaine earned her PhD in Education with a concentration in Special Education from Rowan University. She also holds a Master of Science in Communication Disorders and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, both from Stockton University. Her passion for AT and AAC led her to obtain the credential of Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) from the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA).
Before joining GMercyU, Dr. McIlvaine enriched her teaching portfolio through adjunct faculty positions at both Stockton University and Rowan University, where she shared her insights and research with future speech-language pathologists and special education teachers.
Dr. McIlvaine’s clinical research centers on assistive technology, augmentative and alternative communication, and inclusive education for students with complex communication needs. Her scholarly work is regularly disseminated at international, national, and state conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
