Dr. Jessica Wiggs is an Assistant Professor in Counseling at Gwynedd Mercy University. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology at Brenau University, her Master’s in Professional Counseling with a specialization in Military Resilience at Liberty University and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision with an emphasis in Advanced Clinical Mental Health at Liberty University.
Dr. Wiggs is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Certified Professional Counselors Supervisor (CPCS) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Dr. Wiggs clinical experience is vast and varies from working with sexual assault survivors and conducting trauma-informed therapy to working with college students who are struggling with addiction to overseeing daily operations at an inpatient psychiatric facility, in addition to supervising clinical staff. In addition to therapy, Dr. Wiggs has a work history that ranges from completing psychiatric assessments and drug evaluations to supporting survivors as a victim advocate within a District Attorney’s office. Her areas of interest include trauma, resilience, success and how to be the you you’ve always wanted to be. Personal growth and independence along with autonomy are huge factors Dr. Wiggs takes into consideration when working with any population. Research interests include: sexual assault, trauma, veterans, severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI’S) and substance use/misuse.
When not at work, Dr. Wiggs enjoys the outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and finding new adventures/experiences.
