Dr. Maddie Herman is an Assistant Professor and the Program Coordinator of Sport Management. Prior to becoming a full-time faculty member, she worked for GMercyU's Athletics department as the Assistant Director of Intramurals and Recreation for six years. Additionally, she has worked as an adjunct faculty member for sports management and business.
In her previous role with Intramurals, Dr. Herman created a comprehensive Intramural sports program from the ground up, employing more than 25 student workers each year and serving more than 100 participants per year in various sports including flag football and basketball.
Prior to GMercyU, Dr. Herman worked at Villanova University in the Athletics department in both athletics operations and fitness center management. She also worked at the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia and with the Philadelphia 76ers.
She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from East Stroudsburg University in 2015 and Master’s in Education from GMercyU in 2019. In 2024, she earned a Doctorate of Education in the Teaching and Learning in Higher Education track at GMercyU. Passionate about experiential learning, her research is examining the importance of project-based learning for student success.
Dr. Herman headed abroad for the summer of 2024, working and attending multiple international sport events, from the Paris Olympics to the MLB's London series.
She is a die-hard Philadelphia 76ers and Villanova basketball fan and loves all Philadelphia sports.
