Maria Couchara-Jordan joined the faculty at Gwynedd Mercy University on a full-time basis in January 2020, having worked as a clinical adjunct faculty member since August 2014. She has worked in a wide variety of behavioral health care settings, both inpatient and outpatient as a staff nurse, charge nurse, clinical nurse specialist, staff development educator, case manager with the homeless population, nursing manager, and chief nursing executive officer.
Maria received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Villanova University and her Master’s, with a specialty in the chronically mentally disabled population, from the University of Pennsylvania. She holds certifications as a Guided Care Nurse, a Sexual Assault Counselor, Cognitive Therapy, and ATI Champion. She achieved a post-Master's certificate in Nursing Administration.
Maria has presented at community and nursing conferences, with a passion for the subjects of workplace violence, incivility, and resiliency. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurse's Association and currently serves as a Counselor in the Iota Kappa chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and a Faculty Advisor for Morgan's Light Alliance Against Dating Abuse.
