Raymond Bandlow holds a PhD from The University of Michigan where he trained at the Institute for Social Research. He also completed postdoctoral studies at Teachers College, Columbia University, and at Harvard University’s Center for Law and Education. Bandlow is currently Professor of Education Policy at Gwynedd Mercy University, where he created and oversees the Doctorate in Education program.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Superintendent of Schools in urban and suburban communities in New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and Michigan. He was also Executive Director of the largest migrant education program in the eastern United States.
He served in Washington D.C. as Senior Director for an outreach program of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Science Foundation. In recognition of his work in boosting STEM education both in his own schools and in schools throughout the nation, Bandlow was named National School Administrator of the Year in 2008 by the National Science Educators Leadership Association.
For his commitment to and work on behalf of social justice, he was also named Outstanding School Administrator by Rider University and Keynote Speaker for the Annual Convocation of the National Conference of Christians and Jews (now the National Conference for Community and Justice).
