Wade Luquet, PhD is the founding director and a professor of social work at Gwynedd Mercy University. Dr. Luquet has taught at GMercyU for 22 years and is the founder of the human service degrees and social work degrees. He has more than 40 years of experience as a clinical social worker specializing in marriage and family therapy.
In October 2020, he received the prestigious Educator of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
Dr. Luquet is the author of the best-selling professional book Short-Term Couples Therapy: The Imago Model in Action, now in its second edition. He is co-editor, with Mo Hannah, of Healing in the Relational Paradigm: The Imago Relationship Therapy Casebook, and co-editor with Harville Hendrix, Helen LaKelly Hunt, and Mo Hannah of Imago Relationship Therapy: Perspectives on Theory.
In addition to his books, Dr. Luquet has authored eight book chapters and more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles. He is a frequent presenter at regional conferences and is described as a warm, engaging, and knowledgeable presenter. He maintains a private practice in marriage and family therapy in North Wales, Pa. Dr. Luquet spent a recent summer traveling the country, giving a lecture tour to clinical mental health professionals titled "Couples Therapy Jump-Start: Connecting Clinical Strategies with Neuroscience to Re-Wire and Re-Fire Love."
Dr. Luquet received his Master's of Social Work from Tulane University in New Orleans, a post-master's certificate in Family Therapy from the University of Pennsylvania/ Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, and his PhD in Marriage and Family Studies from The Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He is currently Vice President of the Pennsylvania Association for Social Work Education (PASWE).
