About the Program
Thinking about your next steps in your academic journey? Gwynedd Mercy University’s Integrated Studies program hosts a weeklong Summer Institute to introduce students with intellectual disabilities to college life. Choose from one of two weeks shown above.
During the program, students will build college-readiness skills and facilitate a transition into college life focused on college-level technologies and skills, career exploration, building social connections, and establishing familiarity with a college campus. Some activities include self-advocacy, writing workshops, resume building, grocery shopping, meal preparation, public speaking, movie night, community events, and college exploration.
The camp will be led by GMercyU Integrated Studies program staff, Occupational Therapy Doctoral Students and GMercyU undergraduate students who serve as counselors. The staff will accompany students in any off-campus experiences. The counselors and OTD student will stay on campus with the campers and will rotate to have an “on call” night.
More details will be sent once you submit your application.
