GMercyU Introduces New Memeology Program

Gwynedd Mercy University today announced its new degree program in Memeology. For those who aren't familiar, Memeology will focus on the study and creation of memes, which have risen in popularity through social media sites such as Instagram and Facebook.

The new program is just one of the 40-plus degrees offered at GMercyU, including recently added Bachelor of Health Science in Occupational Science and Bachelor of Social Work. Memology Program Director Daym Daniels, who has more than 15,000 followers on Instagram, is excited to join GMercyU.

"When I first got interested in Memology, I had no idea it would blossom into what it is today. My fascination started with Grumpy Cat," Professor Daniels said. "I'm looking forward to working with future Memologists."

Some of the classes include:

  • Introduction to Redittology
  • History of the Internet: IRL
  • Captions 101
  • Emojis as a Foreign Language
