Philadelphia Campus to Host Human Trafficking Panel Discussion
The School of Graduate and Professional Studies is hosting a panel discussion on April 5 focused on human traffic. The panel will be held at the Philadelphia campus, at 600 Chestnut Street, at 6 p.m.
Part of the MercyTalk series that accompanies the Signature Courses, the panel will feature Human Trafficking experts and will be moderated by KYW reporter Cherri Gregg. You can read Cherri's article from CBS before the panel discussion.
This talk, Struggle in the Shadows, will offer a community dialog designed to examine the human trafficking challenges faced by service providers in the Greater Philadelphia area and beyond, and will feature a panel of local and national experts.
The panelists include:
Sunnetta "Sunny" Slaughter, CEO/ Principal Consultant of Sunny Salighter, LLC, a diversified consulting boutique which provides business and criminal consulting, training, and subject matter expertise for a national and international clientele. She has more than 30 years of execultive leadership as a policy strategist, facilitator, law enforcement instructure, expert, TEDx speaker and subject matter expert of human rights, social justice and civil rights issues.
Hugh Organ, associate executive director of Covenant House, where he works on outreach initiatives, fundraising and advocacy. Covenant House is the largest private child welfare agency in the Delaware Valley and chairs the Philadelphia Anti-Trafficking Coalition, which works to abolish human trafficking and provide services to its victims.
Courtney Fyock works with the Salvation Army New Day to Stop Trafficking Program. With the program, she has contributed to developing social service protocols for responding to victims of human trafficking citywide, statewide advocacy work for policy reform, and conversations withlocal law enforcement entities to create screening and assessment processes.
Alicia Anguiano serves as a staff attorney at Friends of Farmworkers, which supports low-wage workers as they pursue economic and social justice. She participates in outreach and education about sexual violence in the workplace across Pennsylvania.
