Residence Life Staff Gearing Up For Move-In Day 2017
Gwynedd Mercy University will welcome its newest cohort of residents beginning Thursday, Aug. 24th. Between Thursday and Sunday, 410 students are set to move into the four residence halls on campus.
Thursday's Move In Day will be primarily for first-year students, who will live in Loyola and St. Brigid Hall, which have undergone renovations in recent months.
Lounges in Loyola Hall have been outfitted with new paint, flooring, furniture and TVs, and some hallways have new carpeting. Some St. Brigid lounge spaces have gotten new TVs and furniture, including high-top tables with outlets.
All of the Triplex - which includes St. Brigid, Siena and Loyola Halls - has been freshly painted.
In the coming months, all hallway lights in Loyola Hall with be replaced with LEDs, the Triplex lobby will get new flooring, new lounge furniture will be brought into the St. Brigid second floor lounge and Siena Lounge, and the lounges in Alexandria Hall will get new TVs.
Also new this year is the name for the first-year programming series, now called G.R.E.A.T., or Griffin Residential Experience and Transition. The Residence Life Staff will deliver intentional programming to first-year students every Tuesday throughout the academic year that focuses on social, academic and personal development, using GMercyU's Core Values as a guide.
Resident Assistants, who are each assigned to a specific floor in the residence halls, have been on campus for about a week, undergoing training and information sessions to best serve their residents and prepare for #GriffinNation17.
