Social Work Program Director Gives Lecture Tour
Summer is often a time for relaxation and vacations but for many Gwynedd Mercy University faculty members, it was a time for research, teaching, and preparing for the fall semester.
Dr. Wade Luquet, Program Director of GMercyU's Bachelor of Social Work Program, spent a portion of his summer on a lecture tour sponsored by Vyne Education. Dr. Luquet presented a six-hour workshop entitled "Couples Therapy Jump-Start: Connecting Clinical Strategies with Neuroscience to Re-Wire and Re-Fire Love" to clinical mental health professionals in six cities in the north and south.
Stops on the tour included Burlington, Vt., Manchester, N.H., Portland, Maine, Nashville, Tenn., Knoxville, Tenn., and Asheville, N.C. During the workshop, therapists learned how to utilize contemporary research on the brain with couples therapy skills to help couples re-connect and fully communicate with each other.
GMercyU recently launched the BSW program in response to market demands. This program will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to be a social worker. Other programs recently introduced were Bachelor of Health Science in Occupational Science and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy.
