Voices of Gwynedd Hosts 25th Annual Carol Nights
One of Gwynedd Mercy University's most treasured traditions returns this week when the Voices of Gwynedd performs its annual Christmas Carol Nights.
This year's theme is "Alleluia! The Voices of Gwynedd Celebrate Christmas!" and will showcase the choir's virtuosity as they sing a variety of "Alleluias," each by different composers. The songs vary in flavor, from highly animated versions to more the more subdued.
The Voices of Gwynedd is celebrating its 25th anniversary this academic year. Since 1993, GMercyU's 100-person choir has performed all over the world, including Italy, Ireland, Walt Disney World, and Vienna. The Voices of Gwynedd have also performed with some of the world's biggest stars, including Barry Manilow, JoDee Messina, and Broadway singer Linda Eder.
Led by Assistant Professor of Music Carol Evans, the choir presents programs ranging across many different genres and has established itself as a highly professional choral ensemble over the last 25 years. In addition to its varying off-campus performances, the Voices of Gwynedd perform two concerts at GMercyU each year. Its Christmas and Spring concerts have become a staple for not just GMercyU's campus, but the entire community.
"Audience members have told me 'it's not Christmas for me until I attend one of The Voices of Gwynedd Carol Nights,'" Professor Evans said. "Come join us for this beautiful Christmas holiday tradition and help us celebrate our 25th Anniversary!"
This year's Carol Night performances are on Wednesday, November 29; Friday, December 1; and Saturday, December 2. Admission is free and open to the public.
