#GriffinNation18 Gives Back During Annual Orientation Service Day
Gwynedd Mercy University's newest Griffins took part in the annual Orientation Service Day during their first weekend on campus. More than 500 new first-year and transfer students participated in various community service activities that align with the Sisters of Mercy Critical Concerns and reflect our Mercy Mission.
Students were assigned different tasks, at both on-campus and off-campus sites. Students who remained on campus were able to take part in various activities including making children's blankets for Project Linus, preparing meals and packing breakfast bags for Aid for Friends, and crafting care packages to send to deployed military with Operation Care Package.
Some Griffins took trips off campus to make a difference out in the local community. A group of Griffins traveled to Prophecy Creek Park, where they built and repaired bridges with the Wissahickon Watershed. Another off-campus trip took students to the Artman Home Senior Care where they dedicated their afternoon to assisting and engaging with elderly residents.
