Social Work Students Present Research at Conference
In a first for Gwynedd Mercy University's Social Work program, three students presented research at the National Association of Social Workers Pennsylvania Chapter's Annual Conference this past September.
Seniors Aminah Johnson and Tapich Rin, along with Junior Jordan Smith shared their project findings, which centered around the topic of domestic violence, specifically on how agencies can better educate community members about resources available in Montgomery County, Pa.
As part of Professor Janice Nuss' Human Behavior and the Social Environment II class, the students contacted and interviewed a local non-profit agency and helped them implement a survey based on an unmet need.
Johnson, Rin and Smith were joined by 13 other universities from across the state. One poster judge stated that GMercyU should be proud that the students represented the University so well.
"This was amazing and should be continued in the future for social work students," said Rin.
