Voices of Gwynedd to Perform with International Singer
The Voices of Gwynedd will perform with international singer Sarah Brightman at her upcoming concert on Sunday, February 3, 2019.
GMercyU's world-renowned choir will serve as her backup singers during "HYMN In Concert" at the historic Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia.
Brightman is the world's biggest selling Soprano artist and is the only artist to have simultaneously topped the Billboard dance and classical music charts. Over her career, Brightman has recorded global sales of 30 million units and received more than 180 gold and platinum awards in more than 40 countries.
Brightman's latest album "HYMN" was released on November 9, 2018. The Hymn World Tour began in South America and includes over 125 shows, on 5 continents.
"It is a great honor to be invited to be her back up singers," Carol Evans, Director of The Voices of Gwynedd, said. "We are busy preparing about 20 songs for the concert, mostly from her new album."
The Voices of Gwynedd is a 100-member choir comprised of full- and part-time students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of Gwynedd Mercy University. Directed by Carol Evans, a seasoned soprano and assistant professor of music in the School of Arts and Sciences, the choir has developed into a highly professional choral ensemble presenting quality programs representing many different genres. Performances by the choir and our musical collaborators are establishing GMercyU as a strong cultural presence in Southeastern Pennsylvania and the entire Tri-state area. The Voices of Gwynedd celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2018.
