GMercyU Doctoral Student Recognized with Prestigious Golden Torch Award

GMercyU Doctoral student, Richard Harris, attended the 45th Annual National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Convention in Detroit, Michigan and was honored nationally during the Golden Torch Awards Ceremony as the Minority Engineering Program Director of the Year for 2018-2019. In addition, Harris was selected as a STEM Advocate 2019 Honoree by NSBE Boston.

Every year, the Golden Torch Awards recognize excellence among technical professionals, corporate, government, and academic leaders, as well as university and pre-college students. These awards illustrate the possibilities that can be cultivated through support and responsibility, while highlighting the best and brightest in the industry. The proceeds of GTA are used to create college scholarships for gifted high school students.

Harris currently serves as the Assistant Dean of Academic Scholarship, Mentoring & Outreach of Northeastern University's College of Engineering, as well as the Director of NU Program of Multicultural Engineering (NUPRIME). In addition, Harris is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Education Leadership from Gwynedd Mercy University's School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
