GMercyU Hosts Poetry Slam
Gwynedd Mercy University hosted a Poetry Slam on Friday, November 15. Students in Lecturer Albert Fried-Cassorla's Introduction to Poetry class, as well as members from the extended GMercyU Community, participated.
"The Poetry Slam brings students' voices to a wider campus public. There, they can see how their work and accompanying projection and intonation affect the crowd," Fried-Cassorla said. "After all, since the time of Homer, poetry has been a performance art."
The second event of its kind was held at the center of campus in the University Hall Rotunda. The participants included Liam Sullivan, Lauriel Krauss, Alex Ritter, Justin Keller, Alexis Myers, Bob Wood, and Albert Fried-Cassorla.
"This experience gives students confidence in public speaking, which can be a lifelong asset. That's why I started the poetry slam tradition, now in only its second semester," Fried-Cassorla said. "So do come to the next one, which will likely be in the late spring of 2020!"
