Ludmeya Renios Named Outstanding Undergraduate Student
The Alumni Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Student is awarded to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to Gwynedd Mercy University and its Mercy Mission, as well as distinguished themselves in one or more of the following areas: academics, athletics, service, and/or leadership.
Ludmeya Renios, better known as Ludy, has been an active member on campus throughout her time at Gwynedd Mercy University. Ludy joined the Student Activities Committee (SAC) as a first-year student and continued to climb the ranks into the club's Executive Council, serving first as Communications Liaison and finally as President.
Ludy also served as a Resident Assistant for two years, worked as a peer mentor, and participated in the Griffin Student Leadership Institute, all while juggling a rigorous course schedule. She put the skills and values she learned in the classroom and has worked for the last two years as a home help aid where she assesses the needs of her patients and provides care.
She took those leadership experiences and along with three other students worked hard to reestablish the University's Black Student Union. As its Vice President, Ludy helped provide a safe space for students of color and to education the University Community on current issues facing people of color.
Ludy has impacted the student body and ensured a legacy that will last beyond her time here. There is no doubt that she will take these lessons of Mercy into her career as a nurse, as she believes you need Mercy to be the best nurse you can be
