Education Alumna, Jacqui Gallagher, Honored by Microsoft
Gwynedd Mercy University Education Alumna, Jacqui Gallagher ‘16, was recently honored with the title of Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Expert. She was one of four educators from the Wissahickon School District to be chosen for the honor.
Microsoft bestows the MIE Expert honor to educators who are "self-driven and passionate about teaching and learning, who inspire students with creative thinking, and work in a truly collaborative spirit to share their learning with the world.”
MIE Experts share their learning with colleagues and other educators through local training programs in their own school systems, presentations at conferences, blogs, social channels, and more. They work to achieve excellence in education using Microsoft technologies coupled with their innovative teaching practices.
Before starting her teaching career at Blue Bell Elementary, Jacqui graduated from GMercyU with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. She was an active member on campus, participating in the Special Education Club, Campus Ministry, and more. Upon graduation, Jacqui received the Outstanding Leadership Award and the Outstanding Student Teacher Award.
Jacqui was also one of just 20 teachers in the region who was selected for the 2019-2020 Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Foundation Excellence in Teaching Award.
“I truly credit GMercyU with preparing me to be the best teacher I could be and providing me with a toolbox of strategies for the large repertoire of skills it takes to be an effective teacher,” said Jacqui.
Thanks to these skills and strategies she honed at GMercyU, Jacqui is a true Distinctive Mercy Graduate making positive change in her classroom as a teacher and now as a MIE Expert.
