Social Work Professor Featured in 'Ask An Expert' Series
Gwynedd Mercy University's Social Work Professor and Program Coordinator, Wade Luquet, PhD, was recently featured on Master's In Social Work Online as a part of their "Ask An Expert" series.
Dr. Luquet was asked to share his expertise about social work degree programs and what to expect. He covered various topics including important factors to consider when choosing a social work degree program, what it takes to be a successful social work student, and more.
"The best preparation is volunteering at a social agency to see if you like the work," explains Dr. Luquet about how students can best prepare for a social work degree program. "Food cupboards, hospice agencies, and domestic abuse hotlines all look for volunteers. There is usually a training program before you speak with clients, and clearances are mandatory for most agencies. These sorts of experiences will give you an indication if social work is right for you."
