GMercyU Recognized by CoARC with Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award
Gwynedd Mercy University's Respiratory Care Program was presented with the Distinguished Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credentialing Success Award by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). GMercyU is one of a select group of programs to receive the distinction, which is given to programs that achieve at least a 90% pass rate on the RRT exam.
In order to receive the award, programs needed to have three or more years of outcomes data, hold accreditation without a progress report, have a documented success rate on the RRT credentialing exam of 90% or above, and meet CoARC standards for TMC scores and retention.
Not only did GMercyU's program meet the required conditions, but it also exceeded them. Over the last five years, GMercyU's Respiratory Care Program has had a 100% first-time pass rate on the RRT licensure exam.
"The professors are great - they're very knowledgeable, they're very helpful, and you can reach out to them at any time," said Respiratory Care graduate Johnicka Young '20 reflecting on how GMercyU prepared her for her career. "You also get a lot of hands-on experience. You get to go around to a lot of great hospitals, see a lot of different things, and learn a lot - and it greatly prepares you for a career in healthcare."
This award is presented as part of the CoARC's continued efforts to value the RRT credential as a standard of professional achievement. The RRT credential serves as a measure of a program's success in inspiring its graduates to achieve their highest educational and professional aspirations.
Congratulations to our Respiratory Care students, graduates, faculty, and staff for this tremendous honor!
