GMercyU Hosts Third Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event
Gwynedd Mercy University hosted its third annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® event on Saturday, October 23.
Created in 2001, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® has since become an international movement to raise awareness about rape, sexual assault, and gender violence.
Walkers were able to read victims' personal stories, and view posters and T-shirts created by victims. All of the funds raised are being donated to Laurel House, Montgomery County Victims Assistance and Network of Victim Assistance.
GMercyU's Title IX Coordinator Robert Wood recognized the following members of the GMercyU Community for their participation:
Women's and Men's Lacrosse, Baseball, Softball, Cross Country and Track, Tennis, Women's Basketball, Coach Shannon Algeo, Coach Joe Dare, Coach Blase Cesarone, Athletic Director Keith Mondillo, Asst. Athletics Director Dana Lindstrom, Residential Director Jamera Winchester, Resident Assistants, Parkhurst, Plant Services, Institutional Technology, Media Support and Public Safety and Security, Title IX Deputy Coordinators Casey Hilferty and Mindy MacRone-Wojton, Rouseline Emmanuel-Frenel and Josh Stern.
"Last but not least, I want to thank Professor Stephanie Fratantaro and four of her students, Natasha Torres, Brooke Fairweather, Caitlyn Wood, and Sadie Sosa, who assisted in every step of the planning and staging of this event," Wood said. "I know I can say without hesitation anyone who has ever been a victim appreciates your efforts to stop this violence."
