GMercyU Awarded $2 Million Grant for Residence Hall Renovation Project

Gwynedd Mercy University was awarded a $2 million grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for its phase one of The Triplex Project. The grant will go to the Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority through the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.

Phase one of the project will be the renovation of Loyola Hall, including upgrades to residential living/learning rooms, common spaces, meeting spaces, utility and technology rooms, and bathrooms. Renovations also include upgrades to electric, installation of WiFi, asbestos abatement, improvements to exterior masonry deficiency, ADA bathroom facilities, and installation of HVAC/Ventilation that meets COVID-19 pandemic requirements.

D'Emilio, JD said. "This funding supports our plans to enhance GMercyU's residential experience in significant ways. It also supports our mission to prepare Distinctive Mercy Graduates for successful careers and to make a real difference in their communities."

The funding of the project is being awarded to the Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority through the state's Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP). The RACP is a grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects.

The project will begin in Spring 2022.
