GMercyU Welcomes New Head and Assistant Baseball Coaches
In October 2022, GMercyU welcomed Joe Brooks as the new Head Baseball Coach.
“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join the Gwynedd Mercy University community,” Brooks said. “I’d like to thank Director of Athletics Keith Mondillo, the search committee, and the entire campus community for welcoming me into their family and for the opportunity to lead the Griffin baseball program.”
Prior to GMercyU, Brooks worked as the Assistant Coach at Immaculata University from December 2021 to September 2022. For three years, Brooks served as a volunteer assistant with the University of Pennsylvania and served as Head Assistant Coach and recruiting coordinator at Penn State Abington for two years. After graduating from Rutgers-Camden, Brooks worked as the Assistant Coach at Timber Creek High School and Brooklawn American Legion.
In early December 2022, Brooks welcomed Lucas Rollins as the new Assistant Baseball Coach.
“I am extremely grateful to Coach Brooks for the opportunity to be a part of his staff,” Coach Rollins said. “I am fired up to be here at Gwynedd Mercy University and extremely excited to get started with our guys!”
Before joining GMercyU, Rollins worked side-by-side with Brooks at Immaculata University during the 2022 season. Rollins brings a wealth of knowledge to the table after having played NCAA Division I baseball at Saint Joseph’s University.
Brooks and Rollins join the GMercyU community at an exciting time. In Fall 2022, construction began on the Frank O. Genuardi Legends Baseball and Softball Fields. These renovations have been anticipated for some time, and will include new scoreboards, bullpens, batting tunnels dugouts, backstops, fencing, and a new synthetic field for the baseball team.
