Men’s Soccer Team Earns Third AEC Team Academic Award

GMercyU’s Men’s Soccer team earned the 2022 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men’s Soccer Team Academic Award with a collective 3.34 grade point average (GPA).

“I am extremely proud of our student-athletes. Winning this conference award for the third time is a testament to their individual and collective pride as well as their internal drive,” said Head Coach Dave Bontempo. “We take great pride in academic excellence and we consider it an honor to represent Gwynedd Mercy University and our alumni who set the standard.”

This is the third AEC Team Academic Award the Men’s Soccer team has earned in the past five seasons.
GMercyU’s Men’s Soccer team placed eight student-athletes on the Gwynedd Mercy University Athletics Fall 2022 Academic Elite. The Academic Elite recognizes individuals who earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher within one semester. Four of the eight students were recognized on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team including senior goalie/forward John Wagner. Wagner was one of 13 student-athletes named to the 2022 Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) Men’s Soccer Academic All-Area Team. Alongside freshman defenseman/midfielder Josh Rossell, Wagner earned a 4.0 during the Fall 2022 semester.
