Respiratory Care Students Create Escape Room Themed Lab

Gwynedd Mercy University Respiratory Care students participated in an escape room themed like a lab.

To escape the lab, students had to accurately listen to breath sounds, interpret arterial blood gas results, and enter initial mechanical ventilator settings all while figuring out various puzzles.

Respiratory Care faculty members Melissa Thornborough and Melissa Ash developed the exercise, and are happy to report that all three groups of students escaped.

Students in GMercyU’s Respiratory Care program gain hands-on experience both on campus and from clinical specialists at world-renowned health care institutions. Exercises such as this gives students the skills needed to succeed in the clinical setting.
