GMercyU Doctoral Student Receives Black Excellence in Education Award
GMercyU EdD student Hans Lassiter received the Black Excellence in Education award presented by the InnoPower Conference committee, the Indianapolis Chapter of Teach for America, and other sponsors and partners on Monday May 8.
The Black Excellence in Education Award has been presented to more than 300 Black educators from central Indiana since 2016.
Presented by JP Morgan, the award is part of InnoPower Minority Business Week (IMBW), which promotes speaking with a different tone on the Black experience. The IMBW also presents the Black Rising Stars Central Indiana and Innovators on the Rise Awards.
"In the last ten years, Gwynedd Mercy University has emerged as a national leader in school and higher education innovation," said Dr. Raymond Bandlow, GMercyU Professor of Education Policy and Director of Doctoral Studies. "While our strongest connections are with the schools and school districts of Philadelphia and its suburbs, we have a presence in 41 states and 8 other nations. Our leadership is what brought Hans to enroll in our doctoral program. What Hans has accomplished is a testament to his talents and an affirmation of the support we provide."
Hans will be celebrated with other winners on Wednesday, June 14 at The Martin University Gathertorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
