GMercyU's Respiratory Care Program Receives a Second Prestigious Award This Year
This summer, Gwynedd Mercy University’s Respiratory Care program was honored with The President’s Award for Excellence in Credentialing Success. Awarded by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), it was given to schools that achieved a 100% pass rate on the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) exam from 2019 to 2021.
GMercyU, a leader in Respiratory Care education for more than 40 years, was the only school in Pennsylvania to receive the award this year – and just one of 18 schools out of 415 programs nationwide.
This past February, the program was also recognized by the American Association for Respiratory Care’s (AARC) APEX Award for 2023-2024, given to only 11 of 415 schools nationwide.
Per the AARC, this designation exemplifies the best practices in the professional education of respiratory therapists and demonstrates that GMercyU's program enhances the quality of patient care and elevates the respiratory therapy profession.
Together, GMercyU is just one of four schools out of 415 programs nationwide to receive both the APEX and the President’s Award for Excellence in Credentialing Success.
“We are honored and proud to be recognized with these two prestigious awards,” said GMercyU’s Respiratory Care Program Coordinator Randy Solly, MS, RRT, RPFT. “Only 1% of respiratory care programs nationwide received both awards this year; it’s a testament to the hard work of our dedicated faculty and students. However, nothing is more satisfying than seeing our new graduates begin successful careers in this deeply rewarding field of healthcare.”
