DEMSN Program Graduates First Cohort, Doubles Enrollment
GMercyU’s Direct-Entry Master of Science in Nursing Program graduated its first cohort in August 2024. Graduates are now eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and prepared to take on a variety of new roles, including team manager, patient or staff educator, point of care clinician, and outcome manager for specific patient populations.
The program launched in 2022 to help meet the demand for highly skilled nurse leaders and is designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field and want to transition to a master's-level career in nursing in as few as 24 months.
As a result of the demand for nurse leaders, the program’s enrollment doubled for the fall 2024 cohort.
The real-world clinical preparation students gain is a key component of the program, further increasing its marketability. Another critical factor in the program’s uniqueness is the GMercyU’s Dedicated Educational Unit (DEU) program LINK which enables students to complete a one-on-one clinical experience with a dedicated nurse mentor that helps students prepare for the transition from learning to practice.
Students also have the opportunity to be selected for the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Created in 1922, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing is comprised of more than 100,000 members and 600 chapters at institutions of higher education who work to succeed in fulfilling the vision of creating connected, empowered nurse leaders in a transforming global healthcare landscape
