Learn more about the GriffinTuesday campaign.

This GriffinTuesday celebrated GMercyU's First-Generation students. More than half of GMercyU's students are making a difference in their lives and their communities by being the first in their families to attend college.

First-Generation students face unique challenges as many of them are also parents, caregivers, veterans, first-generation Americans or come from limited financial means.

For the first time ever, GriffinTuesday also included a match gift, the Janet DeMaine Kelly ’60 and Francis X. Kelly, Jr. Match.

Kelly herself is a first-generation college graduate and established The Janet DeMaine Kelly '60 Endowed Scholarship at GMercyU to specifically support first-generation students. She deeply understands the profound impact of investing in the educational journeys of first-gen students.

GMercyU’s Mercy Mission is to meet and nurture the needs of these students academically, socially and emotionally as they navigate their time on campus and persist to graduation.

The University has developed resources and services that directly serve first-generation students and allow them to succeed, including Catherine's Cupboard, The Griffin Scholar's Program, The Student Success Center and The Center for Teaching and Learning. Funds raised through the GriffinTuesday campaign will go to support these initiatives.

Although the current GriffinTuesday campaign has ended, gifts to support GMercyU can be made online to the GMercyU Fund anytime.
