GMercyU Co-Hosts International Bridges Seminar

Gwynedd Mercy University co-hosted the virtual International Bridges Seminar with Western Galilee College in Israel on November 7, 2024.

The Seminar was a continuation of the academic partnership between the two institutions which provides innovative, cultural, and experiential teaching and learning experience, and scholarship opportunities for faculty.

The collaboration started with 18 GMercyU faculty members and 19 Western Galilee College faculty members in 2022. Faculty members from different disciplines paired together on related research topics and have begun working together since.

Last fall, GMercyU hosted faculty from Western Galilee on campus for a conference to share updates on the collaborative research. The original plan was to travel to Israel this fall but due to current affairs, it was switched to a virtual format.

"International research collaborations provide opportunities for faculty to exchange ideas, engage in educational discussion, and foster cultural understanding and respect for different perspectives," SoYoung Kang, PhD, Director of GMercyU's Center for Teaching and Learning said.

Faculty members from both institutions provided updates on their research collaboration since last fall and a few new faculty members from both GMercyU and WGC joined the collaborative research. The group also engaged in discussion on the topic of "The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Research."

The collaborative research spans many disciplines and topics, including Public Health, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, economics, artificial intelligence, and Education.
