History Students Attend the American Historical Association Conference in NYC
History majors James Davey ’25 and Dante Falabella ’27, along with History minor Ines Monsalve ’26, attended the annual meeting of the American Historical Association in NYC earlier this month with History Professor and Program Coordinator Michael Clinton, PhD. The College of Arts, Sciences, and Professional Studies sponsored the students' trip, thanks to the generous donation of a GMercyU benefactor.
The annual AHA meeting is known as the nation’s largest gathering of historians, in all stages of their careers. It’s an opportunity to share research, learn from each other, and to network.
“I enjoyed talking with several high school teachers about their presentations on how to adapt to a changing classroom, as that is something I will have to do when I teach,” said Dante Falabella ’27, a History 4+1 MsEd major. “The discussion panels also had an encompassing range of topics, from conversations about current global issues to papers on past historical excursions.”
“The conference allowed me to hear from a multitude of historians in their designated sessions, each with their own distinct field of study,” added Ines Monsalve ’26, a Nursing major with History minor. “It also connected me with undergraduate students whose advanced research fascinated me. Overall, the experience was one I will forever be grateful for as it displayed such a wide range of historical research that is only ever growing.”
