Field Hockey Members Receive Academic Awards

Each year, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) releases its Division III Scholars of Distinction list, and GMercyU is pleased to share that two students, senior captain Laura Filchner and first-year goalkeeper Kelly Weaver, have been named to the list. The two were among a group of 540 student-athletes achieving a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.9 or higher throughout the fall semester.

In addition to the Division III Scholars of Distinction list, the NFHCA also released its Division III Academic Honor Squad, featuring seven Griffins, including senior midfielder Cheyenne Avellino; senior midfielder Laura Filchner; sophomore defender Morgan Hoban; senior forward Maddie Jeter; sophomore midfielder Taylor Reynolds; and first-year goalkeeper Kelly Weaver. The 1,800 student-athletes named to this list earned a culminative GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout the fall semester.

Filchner and Jeter are also members of the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Women’s At-Large Academic All District Team.
