Nursing Class Hosts Guest Lecturers
GMercyU nursing students welcomed guest lecturers Megan Donaghy, CNM and Geisa O’Reilly Corbitt to their “N415 Women’s & Children’s Health “class taught by Professor of Practice Jennifer Kelly-Connolly, MSN, RN, CCE.
As a Certified Nurse Midwife, Megan has traveled the globe working for Doctors Without Borders, providing obstetrical care for refugees and internally displaced populations in Tanzania, South Sudan, and Bangladesh. She shared how her time with the organization expanded her passion toward advocacy and social justice in healthcare. It also encouraged her to help people navigate the complexities of our healthcare system through education, empowerment, and informed decision-making.
Geisa works as Volunteer Coordinator with Home of The Sparrow, an organization dedicated to providing housing services to single women and mothers experiencing homelessness. It also provides housing, education, and additional support to women in need.
Students in N415 have been working with Home of The Sparrow for the past three years to donate products such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, cleaning products, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, and more. The class gifted two baskets to Geisa and the organization during her presentation.
