Yes, our annual Red & Gold Day is held on the last Saturday in September. There is fun for the whole family – food trucks, games, music, and you can also catch one of our home games.

Your soon-to-be graduate will receive emails related to all-things Commencement – senior portraits, caps and gowns, tickets, etc. You can also check gmercyu.edu/commencement frequently for information as it becomes available.

No, they don’t. GMercyU welcomes students of all beliefs, so while students are free to join our weekly Mass services, we also recognize that Catholic services (or any prayer services) might not be your student’s thing.

Academics / Career

Grades will be sent directly to your student, who is free to share them with you. Students can provide consent to have us share them directly with you by completing a FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) form. Learn more about FERPA on our Registrar page.

In addition to speaking directly with a professor or academic advisor, your student also can go to the Student Success Center for one-on-one tutoring, advising, or other academic assistance.

These services are unlimited and already included in your tuition, so please encourage them to take advantage of it!

Beyond seeking one out on their own, your student can ask always professors in their major for help with finding an internship; our faculty typically have local industry connections and can offer advice.

Sometimes majors will host their own career fairs, like GMercyU’s annual Accounting, Finance & Business Career Fair held every fall. These fairs are great opportunities to make connections with employers for internships — sometimes even paid internships!

We also encourage students to contact our Career Development Center, located in the Keiss Library, and /or use their database called Handshake, which features more than 750,000 employers. The Career Development Center will help your student fine-tune their resume and work on their interviewing skills.

Financial Aid / Billing

No problem! Our Student Financial Aid Office is happy to help you navigate the changes that the Department of Education made to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which you will need to complete if you’re applying for financial aid for the 2024-2025 academic year. You can find their contact information here.

Campus / Residence Life

Maintaining a safe campus is one of our top priorities, and we’re very proud to have been named the 8th safest college in the U.S. and the safest within the Philadelphia metropolitan area in 2024.

Our Office of Public Safety is located in St. Brigid Hall and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Public Safety officers patrol campus throughout the day and night, and we have a close relationship with the local police department. In fact, the current Chief of Police at the Lower Gwynedd Police Department is a GMercyU grad!

Multiple emergency call stations are located throughout campus, though we will provide an escort across campus to anyone who wants it. Our emergency messaging system, Omnilert, sends time-sensitive alerts to students, faculty and staff of weather-related closing and other emergency-related situations on campus via voicemail, email and text message, unless students opt out of receiving emergency notifications.

Entry to the residence halls is granted only via an ID swipe card. We also encourage all students, faculty, and staff to contact our Office of Public Safety if they see or hear something that may require attention.

Want to surprise your student who lives on campus? GMercyU has partnered with Dormify for sending pre-made care packages and gifts to students in our residence halls.

Visit GMercyU's Dormify site for more information: https://www.dormroom.com/gwy

The first step is to have an open and honest conversation with the roommate. If that doesn’t work, your student should speak with a Resident Assistant who can help resolve the situation or put your student in contact with our Residence Life Staff.

Many students have access to Federal Work Study funding as part of their financial aid package and/or take advantage of student employment opportunities on campus.

Students can choose from many different part-time jobs on campus, including serving as a tutor in the Student Success Center, giving campus tours as an Admissions Griffin Ambassador, supporting residential students as a Resident Assistant, working for one or more athletic teams, or providing assistance in various other departments. Most students choose a role that aligns with their major or future career aspirations.

Support Services

Located in Loyola Hall, the Health and Wellness Center is open to all GMercyU students and staffed with trained nurses. Walk-ins are welcome, but we encourage students to make an appointment to ensure prompt attention.

All full-time students are required to have a health form on file so our staff can provide them with the health services they need.

Even if it’s outside of their comfort zone, please suggest to your student to get involved. It will make a huge impact on their college experience. Suggest that they browse Griffin Engage for activities, clubs, or organizations that interest them.

If they don’t see a club they’re interested in, GMercyU encourages students to create their own! They can contact our Office for Student Engagement staff with their idea. If your student still has trouble making connections, encourage them to have a discussion with a staff member about options.

We recognize that mental health issues have grown in recent years. That’s why we offer free and unlimited Counseling Services — a confidential and safe place for students to discuss any concerns as they adjust to college life and begin to make their way in the world. As of Fall 2024, we also offer 24/7 virtual mental health support.
