Philosophy Society
Philosophy Society is a student-run organization dedicated to creating and maintaining a serious, vibrant intellectual culture on campus through symposium-styled philosophical conversation.
We meet twice a month for roundtable discussions on any and all subjects worthy of philosophical discourse. Conversations often begin with a Socratic question as to the nature or definition of a philosophical concept (e.g. What is love? What is freedom? Can one person teach another? What is consciousness?).
We also sponsor lectures, colloquia, interdisciplinary debates, and movies that are followed by shared critique, commentary, and analysis. Philosophy professors are present for all meetings, participating collegially with students in all conversation.
