I recommend GMercyU as one of the top higher institutions in the entire Philadelphia region and beyond. Mercy is what Gwynedd Mercy University is all about. It is a fantastic university!
Experience at GMercyU
Anne DeSantis graduated from Upper Moreland High School in 1983, and was introduced to GMercyU by a former teacher.
On campus, Anne was an involved student. Despite working part-time, she found time to volunteer and later got involved with the Voices of Gwynedd with her daughter Shawn.
Want to know a fun fact? Anne’s daughter and husband Angelo are also GMercyU alums! Shawn earned her undergraduate degree in 2021 and her MBA in 2023. Anne’s husband earned his undergraduate degree in 1995.
Anne earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Education degree in 1989 and loved her experience.
“I loved the program, and I have very fond memories of Gwynedd, my teachers, and the whole GMercyU experience,” shared Anne.
In particular, Anne remembers the impact that Sister Mary Norbert, who served as her advisor, mentor, and friend, had on her experience. She also highlighted Joanne Trotter, former Dean of the Business Division, who she described as “incredible.”
While a student, Anne completed her student-teaching.
When I was doing student-teaching, it gave me all of the experience I needed to proficiently teach in the classroom. My biggest takeaway from that experience was the hands-on approach that I needed to succeed.
Life After GMercyU
In 2021, Anne graduated from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine with her MA in Theology. She’s currently in the process of doing a doctoral dissertation through Pontifex University.
Presently, Anne is the Executive Director for the Saint Raymond Nonnatus Foundation for Freedom, Family, and Faith where she makes pastoral outreach to families in crisis. Additionally, Anne is an author and speaker. In 2021, Anne wrote the book Love and Care for the Marginalized which is available on Amazon.
In her personal life, Anne is a mother to two daughters, Alaine and Shawn, and has been married for more than 34 years. Her daughter Alaine got married in 2022, and her son-in-law, Zac, is a new member of the family. Anne and Angelo have two cats, Gemma and Maddy, who are also part of the family.
“I am so blessed, and GMercyU has made a profound impact on my life,” shared Anne.
In fall 2024, Anne obtained a doctoral degree in Theology.
