Bella Iadonisi
Psychology 2024
Current Position: Behavioral Health Technician at Child and Family Focus, Inc.
Story Posted: Summer 2024
Bella Iadonisi graduated from Central Bucks High School South in 2020, but did not find her home at GMercyU until two years later. After spending two years at another institution, Bella realized she wanted a place within commuting distance, making GMercyU the perfect choice!
“I remember coming to campus for New Student Orientation and immediately noticing how nice and welcoming everyone was. I met many future classmates and staff during this orientation, and I instantly felt like I had made the right decision to come to GMercyU,” shared Bella.
Why Psychology?
As a high school student, Bella struggled to find one favorite subject, making her worried about choosing a college major. She faced this uncertainty until she took an introductory course in Psychology.
“I remember being so fascinated learning about Psychology, and it made me excited that I would be studying a topic in the future that will eventually lead to me helping others as my profession,” Bella said.
Experience in GMercyU’s Psychology Program
Bella loved her time in the program. She was highly engaged in her classes, completed undergraduate research, and was offered an internship.
These things combined gave me a great education in Psychology. Also, I feel like the classes I took have prepared me for future jobs and further education. Classes like Counseling and Communication Skills, Research Methods, Mindfulness and Positive Psychology, Group Processes, and more have made my experience in the Psychology program extremely unique and valuable.
In addition to enjoying her courses, Bella attributes much of her success to her Psychology professors.
“To name a few, Dr. Gullan, Professor Fratantaro, Dr. Gunn, Professor Reilly, and more significantly impacted by success at GMercyU,” said Bella.
During spring 2024, Bella completed an internship at Child and Family Focus, Inc. as a Behavioral Health Technician. She was primarily responsible for implementing behavioral interventions with her clients in the school setting and collecting data on their behaviors throughout the day.
“This internship showed me that I have a passion for working with children, specifically in the school setting. This has helped me with my potential future direction for further education and job opportunities,” Bella said.
Bella’s GMercyU Experience
Bella truly found her home away from home at GMercyU. Even as a commuter, Bella was able to immerse herself into campus life, including joining the Social Work and Psychology (SWAP) Club.
My favorite part about GMercyU is how friendly and helpful everybody is. If you ever have a question about anything at all, someone is always available to help out. The welcoming and uplifting environment that this school creates helped me to be successful during my college experience.
Post-Graduation
Bella graduated in May 2024 with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Counseling and Interpersonal Relations. Presently, she’s working full-time at Child and Family Focus as a Behavioral Health Technician and Administrative Program Assistant. Her goal is to work in the school setting with children, so she plans to attend graduate school in the future.
