Current Position: Medical Student at Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine
My journey to Gwynedd Mercy University starts with Montgomery County Community College. I knew that I always wanted to study Biology since my end goal was Medicine. I transferred from Montgomery County Community College to Gwynedd Mercy University, and it was an instantaneous decision after my meeting with Dr. Michelle McEliece. I interviewed with her and she gave me an acceptance right away.
Experience in Biology Program
All the Biology program professors were really nice. They encourage you to pursue your dreams forward. The advising committee in GMercyU’s Biology program was outstanding and assisted me with professional school applications and getting everything started. The program prepares you for the post-graduation experience through mock interviews as well as professional development capstone projects.
I did my research experience at GMercyU with Dr. Stacey Lettini where we worked on finding physical, as well as chemical, factors that could increase antibiotic production. We also conducted several community service projects through the Biology program, including raising funds for the Huntington’s Disease Community in Philadelphia.
I would encourage any student to select Gwynedd Mercy University; the outstanding faculty support is why they should be consider this undergraduate institution. The professors are easily approachable, and you can get support and advisement from them even after graduation. This is very unique!
Post-Graduation Success
Following my completion of the Biology program at GMercyU, I attended West Chester University of Pennsylvania and completed my Master’s Program in Public Health. I am currently beginning medical school in the Fall at Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (ARCOM). I am interested in the primary care specialty of medicine.
GMercyU’s Biology program provided me with all the required scientific knowledge that helped me prepare for entrance exams such as the MCAT. Also, I gained a deeper understanding of scientific journals and articles through unique courses such as Biochemistry.
