Eduardo Moreno
Psychology 2022
Current Position: Assistant Behavior Analyst at Behavior Interventions, Inc.
Story Last Updated: Fall 2024
When deciding to transfer from his community college, Eduardo found that the friendly, calm, and inviting atmosphere he experienced at a GMercyU open house sealed the deal. "The environment was unlike other campuses I had previously visited," he said.
Eduardo’s transfer process went smoothly with the help of his GMercyU admissions counselor, who kept him up to date with the latest information and answered any questions he had. Moving to GMercyU from the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) in the city felt very different to Eduardo. "[GMercyU's] campus is surrounded by trees and gives you a sense of tranquility," he said.
Choosing Psychology
Having taken a few Psychology courses at CCP, Eduardo found the subject intriguing. He describes Psychology as an underrated major and was always curious to know the topic of his next class. Because of this, Eduardo decided to major in Psychology at GMercyU.
The majority of my classes were amazing, but two that stood out to me were Death and Dying with Professor Mary Reilly and Ethical Issues with Professor Rebecca Gullan.
Eduardo emphasizes that all of his professors at GMercyU are there to help their students succeed.
In spring 2022, Eduardo has an internship lined up at Caring Hospice Services. After graduation, Eduardo plans to analyze the market for jobs in the field of psychology and depending on the results, he may pursue his master’s degree.
Experience as a Student-Athlete
Eduardo describes becoming a member of the GMercyU men’s soccer team as “the second-best choice I made.” (The first choice would be choosing GMercyU.)
Despite the season not heading in the direction the team wanted, Eduardo says he will cherish the experience, the lessons, and the people forever. “The program has helped me mature as a student, athlete, and, most importantly, a person,” said Eduardo.
Life Updates
Eduardo is currently an Assistant Behavior Analyst at Behavior Interventions, Inc. where he works with children with developmental disabilities. One takeaway from GMercyU that Eduardo uses in his job is "take care Tuesdays," a practice focused on one's mental state in which individuals do activities that help them mentally. While he doesn't utilize this practice every Tuesday, he does it often enough so he can be at the top of his game to best serve the children he works with.
Currently, Eduardo is working towards his master's in Applied Behavior Analysis at Purdue Global and is set to graduate in six months. After graduating, he will have to take an exam to become a Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS).
