Story Last Updated: Summer 2024
I chose Gwynedd Mercy University because it was the best all-around fit for me and I felt right at home the first minute I stepped onto campus. I wanted to go to a school that was relatively close to home with small class sizes so I wouldn’t be just another face in the crowd. I was also looking to play college lacrosse and was heavily recruited by GMercyU's head coach Dana Lindstrom. The process was really easy and everyone I met made me want to be a part of the GMercyU family from the start.
Campus Experience
I was fortunate enough to be a member of the Men’s Lacrosse team during my tenure at GMercyU. I loved the brotherhood that we had and the memories we made together - on and off the field - will stay with me forever. I was also a part of the Orientation Planning Team under Susan Jaskelewicz. I wanted to be a part of the new student orientation because I loved meeting new people and I knew that I wanted to help the incoming students as much as possible. Both of these experiences helped me make the most of my time GMercyU.
Aside from playing lacrosse and being a part of the Orientation Team, I also had two internships during my years at GMercyU. My first internship was with a small sales company based out of Ohio called PRSPX Sales. My uncle is the President and CEO of PRSPX, and he played a pivotal role in my internship experience. My second internship was with AON Insurances. My father is the Vice President of Sales at AON, so he was able to help me secure that internship. Both internship experiences helped me develop as a student as well as an individual. I would not be where I am today without these two amazing internships.
In the Classroom
The Sports Management program at GMercyU played a huge role in my development as an intellectual. I learned tons of important information that I still utilize on a daily basis. I really enjoyed learning about stuff that I cared about. All of my classes were tailored towards the connection between business and sports. Going into college I had the idea that I would like to work in professional sports, and the sports management program at GMercyU helped solidify my decision to do so.
One professor comes to mind when I think back to my time at GMercyU. Stephen Mumford was not only a great professor but a great all around man. He was my academic advisor and helped set me up for success by assisting me in scheduling classes and going above and beyond his advisor duties. As an incoming freshman, I carried with me 12 credits from Montgomery County Community College.
I told Mr. Mumford that it was a goal of mine to graduate college early in three and a half years and he helped make that happen. He has made a lasting impression on me and played a very pivotal role in my tenure at GMercyU.
Living My Dream
I was able to graduate in three and a half years which was one semester earlier than my fellow classmates who I entered GMercyU with in 2014. I officially finished school in December of 2017 and later walked in our graduation ceremony in May 2018.
Just a few weeks after my last semester, I started my job as an Inside Sales Associate with the Philadelphia Flyers. I was given an opportunity of a lifetime to work for an NHL Team that I had grown up watching and been of fan of my entire life and I truly could not be happier. I love working in the Philadelphia area and the professional sports industry is exactly where I want to be.
Afte working two years for the Philadelphia Flyers, I chose to fly south and take on an Account Executive role with the Miami Dolphins. While living and working in Fort Lauderdale, I had the privilege of being a part of many events like concerts, College Football Playoff games, and even the Super Bowl! Once COVID happened, I had to pivot out of sports and chose to work in the SaaS/Tech industry.
I am currnetly a Senior Customer Development Advisor who manages a small book of businesses within the Iron Mountain organization. We help customers organize, store, and destroy their records and data. We are a one-stop-shop and global leader in the records and data management industry. I have been with Iron Mountain now for about nine months and I enjoy my day-to-day!
