It was such an amazing and humbling experience to meet people from different areas and use what I had learned in school to positively impact and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
My GMercyU Experience
I transferred into GMercyU to pursue my passion of giving back, and was given the opportunity to use my nursing experience to help those less fortunate across the globe. I spent my spring breaks in New Orleans building homes with Habitat for Humanity, and I provided medical care in the Dominican Republic with fellow nursing students.
While working as a student nurse extern for Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, I represented GMercyU at the Student Nurses Association National Convention in Nashville, Tenn., and cheered on my fellow Griffins as a member of the cheerleading squad.
When I graduated from GMercyU with my BSN, I was offered a full-time position at Mercy Medical Center, where I received a scholarship to spend time in St. Lucia, providing health care screening and education in underdeveloped neighborhoods.
In 2013, I started working as a traveling nurse, and have been to California, Washington and Baltimore. I can’t wait to see where I’ll serve next!
