I truly feel like this is where I’m meant to be! Gwynedd Mercy University is not just a choice for education; it’s a commitment to a shared vision of compassion and excellence.
Quinn Shiffler, Doylestown, Pa. native and Central Bucks West graduate, earned her bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University in 2021. She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MSSLP) degree here at GMercyU.
“When I was applying to graduate school, I felt overwhelmed by the process. None of the schools I applied to really felt like the perfect fit, and I knew this was a huge investment in my future,” shared Quinn. “After meeting with Program Director Dr. Karen Fallon and Director of Clinical Education Alison Boyle, I knew I had found my place. Their warmth, expertise, and genuine support made me feel both confident and at ease.”
Experience in MSSLP
“I feel so blessed to be a part of the inaugural MSSLP cohort. I’m surrounded by an exceptional group of peers and professors who continually inspire, support, and challenge me to reach my full potential,” Quinn said.
She’s truly enjoyed getting to forge meaningful relationships with her professors and is grateful for the role each plays in her educational journey.
“They believe in me and want me to succeed in all areas of life. It’s like having my own cheerleading squad!” shared Quinn.
She especially enjoys their “community clinic” days. Each Monday and Thursday, Quinn and her cohort provide speech and language services to community partners. These sessions offer Quinn and her peers invaluable hands-on experience and allow them to foster strong relationships with the individuals they serve, further reinforcing the true purpose of their job.
“I want to be a speech-language pathologist for many reasons, but mainly because I have felt a calling to serve, finding joy and a sense of peace in working with people,” shared Quinn. “As a Christian, I believe in utilizing the spiritual gifts bestowed upon us by God. Ephesians 2:10 resonates with me: ‘For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.’”
Post-Graduation
Quinn is set to graduate in May 2026 with the goal of passing her board certification test, the Praxis Examination. Her dream is to become a pediatric speech-language pathologist.
“I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and look forward to contributing my skills and dedication to this transformative field,” said Quinn.
