Aramark Building Community Day Takes Place at Catherine’s Cupboard

ABC DayAramark, GMercyU’s food services vendor, recently hosted Aramark Building Community (ABC) Day at Catherine’s Cupboard, GMercyU’s on-campus food pantry.

Jim Valeri, Sr. Human Resources Manager at Aramark, began discussions with Betsy Stone Plummer, MS, Director of Service and Catherine’s Cupboard, a year ago about the profound impact Catherine’s Cupboard has had on the GMercyU community. Jim connected with the Community Outreach team at Aramark to put together the project.

“The ABC Day Event at Catherine’s Cupboard on the campus of Gwynedd Mercy University was a great success. Catherine’s Cupboard responds to the issue of student food insecurity by providing services to alleviate food hunger on campus. Aramark volunteers did a phenomenal job bringing in a large number of donations, helping with the renovation on the storage and shelving, along with a beautiful job of laying mulch, weeding, and gardening. It was a wonderful time, and everyone had fun giving back to the community,” shared Jim.

Aramark ServicePrior to the volunteers’ arrival, the team donated more than 100 pounds of food to Catherine’s Cupboard, along with additional shelving, can organizers, mulch, and flowers for outdoor spaces. Aramark employees reorganized the storage room to incorporate the new shelving and organizers as well as new food. Outside, the team gave Catherine’s Cupboard a fresh new look after they weeded, planted, and mulched the garden beds.

“Their work will help us be more efficient with our food storage and to have a better understanding of our inventory. The outdoor beautification will provide a more welcome environment for our students when they visit,” shared Betsy.
